চট্টগ্রামে সর্বশেষ ২৪ ঘণ্টায় (গতকাল মঙ্গলবার সকাল আটটা থেকে আজ বুধবার সকাল আটটা পর্যন্ত) ১১৮ জন ডেঙ্গু রোগী শনাক্ত হয়েছে। এ বছর এক দিনে সর্বোচ্চ শনাক্তের ঘটনা এটি। তবে এ সময় ডেঙ্গুতে কেউ মারা যাননি।

আজ বুধবার জেলা সিভিল সার্জনের কার্যালয় থেকে পাঠানো প্রতিবেদনে এসব তথ্য জানা গেছে। এ নিয়ে এ বছর চট্টগ্রামে মোট ১ হাজার ৬৮৩ জন ডেঙ্গু আক্রান্ত হন। এ সময় মারা গেছেন ২০ জন। গতকাল মঙ্গলবার পর্যন্ত ডেঙ্গু নিয়ে ২৪৩ জন নগরের বিভিন্ন হাসপাতালে ভর্তি ছিলেন। এর মধ্যে শুধু আগ্রাবাদ মা ও শিশু জেনারেল হাসপাতালে ভর্তি ৭৫ জন। ভর্তি হওয়াদের ৪১টিই শিশু

জানতে চাইলে আগ্রাবাদ মা ও শিশু জেনারেল হাসপাতালের পরিচালক মো. নুরুল হক প্রথম আলোকে বলেন, দিন দিন হাসপাতালে রোগী বেড়েই চলেছে। এর মধ্যে শিশু রোগীর সংখ্যা বেশি। দুই শিশুর অবস্থা খারাপ।

বুধবার সরেজমিনে দেখা যায়, হাসপাতালটির বিভিন্ন মেঝেতে চিকিৎসা দেওয়া হচ্ছে। শিশুদের পুরোনো ভবনের বিভিন্ন কক্ষে চিকিৎসা চলছে। মাদারবাড়ী থেকে আলিফ নামে দেড় বছরের এক শিশুকে নিয়ে এসেছেন মা–বাবা। তাঁরা বলেন, ঘরে আর কারও ডেঙ্গু হয়নি। ছেলেটি প্রথম আক্রান্ত হয়। স্থানীয় চিকিৎসককে দেখানোর পর হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করিয়ে দিতে বলেছেন।

চট্টগ্রামে চলতি মাসে ডেঙ্গু আক্রান্ত কয়েক গুণ বেড়েছে। প্রতিদিনই প্রায় শ খানেক লোকের ডেঙ্গু শনাক্ত হচ্ছে।
